5 Exciting Engagement Ring Trends For 2023

If you’re shopping for an engagement ring during the upcoming 2023 season, you’ll want to explore the newest and most exciting engagement ring trends for the upcoming year.

From unique center stones to timeless metals, 2023 is guaranteed to have gorgeous engagement ring trends that you won’t want to miss.

Oval Center Stones

There’s a lot to love about an oval cut center stone and it’s no surprise that so many people are falling in love with this timeless alternative to the popular round brilliant cut.

But why are ovals gaining so much popularity?

Not only oval cut stones look amazing set in the center of an engagement ring, but it looks as good with the matching bands to compliment the bridal set! Plus, the unique shape of an oval cut gemstone creates the illusion of length, helping to elongate the finger. Who doesn't love a nice elongated hand?

Our One of a Kind Purple Sapphire and Diamond Asymmetric Ring is an excellent example of the gorgeous beauty offered by this timeless trend.

Toi Et Moi Rings

Few engagement rings can compare to the romantic and sentimental aesthetic of a Toi et Moi ring, meaning “You and Me” in French.

Toi et Moi rings have remained popular since 1796 when Napoleon Bonaparte cemented his love for his wife Josephine with this romantic-style ring. These feature two gemstones harmoniously placed alongside one another, while being connected by the band that gently coils around the finger.

But today, these rings took a more modern twist to the classic style. Our Blue Sapphire and Dusty Rose Spinel Asymmetric Ring is a fantastic example of the exquisite beauty offered by a Toi et Moi ring.

Colored Gemstones

Another exciting new ring trend likely to enter the scene during the 2023 engagement season is colored gemstones. We've seen them gaining popularity over the past few years, but 2023 might just be their year to shine!

Colored gemstones have a lot to offer when it comes to engagement ring design and can be used as both center and accent stones. I personally love how every single gemstone is unique, especially in the colors they offer. Sapphires, rubies and spinels are great alternatives to colorless diamonds as they have a great hardness and durability!

Our Bright Pink Sapphire and Diamond Asymmetric Ring showcase just how incredible a gorgeous colored gemstone can be alongside a row of traditional diamonds. If you love unique jewellery, colored gemstones might be your way to go!

Yellow Gold

Yellow gold is another trendy but timeless option that will steadily gain popularity throughout 2023 because of its accessibility and unique ability to compliment a variety of different colored gemstones and diamonds.

I personally love how it compliments every skin tone because of it's rich color, but also brings some light to the piece of jewellery. Compared to white gold, yellow gold also doesn't have to get re-plated every couple of years, which assures that you will have a great quality piece of jewellery for years to come.

Our Dark Peach Sapphire Engagement Ring is an excellent example of the timelessness of a yellow gold ring combined with modern elements to create a breathtaking aesthetic.

Sustainable Jewellery

As a fine jewellery designer, I’ve seen a shift in engagement ring styles over the past few years. The classic, mass-produced styles are slowly evolving towards more unique and sustainable jewellery, which can be translated to people wanting more personalized and ethical pieces.

The shift will continue in 2023 as young couples will choose more sustainable options, such as colored gemstones over colorless diamonds, since their environmental impact is much lower than large-scale diamond mining. The money from the sale of sapphires and spinels are also more likely to stay in the community where they were mined, as they are not controlled by large corporations.

As an independent jewellery designer, I want to continue making my design choices based on sustainability. I’ll continue using colored gemstones, or even start designing around estate diamonds and give them a new life. When I work on a new piece of jewellery, I always start from the center stone because of its remarkable character and uniqueness, and it inspires me to listen to the demands of my clients asking for sustainable and personalized engagement rings.

Our One of a kind raspberry spinel and diamond asymmetric ring is a great sustainable option set with a traceable spinel from the Lang Chap mine in Vietnam.

At the end of the day, what truly matters is finding a perfect ring, which speaks to you and to your special someone. It will be a souvenir for you to cherish, and wear for years to come.
