Jewellery Care

How do I keep my jewellery looking it's best?

Wearing jewellery everyday can slightly alter the appearance of your favorite piece. However, rest assured that we have all the tricks you need, to take care of them properly.

Since all of our jewellery is made in precious metals, fine colored gemstones and diamonds, the cleaning steps are very easy!

Using a delicate bristle toothbrush soaked in warm water and a detergent-free soap, brush your favorite piece of jewellery until cleaned. Don't forget to clean underneath the stones, where there can often be buildups of soap and handcream. Then, rince your piece of jewellery in lukewarm water, and slightly dab with a cloth to dry.

Once your piece of jewellery is completely clean, there are a few steps to take care of them so they can appear nicer, for a longer time:

  • Apply perfumes, creams and hair products before wearing your jewellery pieces. Since most of Justine Quintal fine jewellery pieces are set with gemstones and diamonds, taking this extra step will make sure to preserve them properly.

  • Going to the gym? It would be best to remove your jewellery pieces to do so. Our ring are made very solid, however, lifting very heavy weights can sometimes alter the shape of the ring, slighty pressing down on your finger.
  • Chlorine found in pools and spas can also be damaging to silver and some gemstones. Make sure to remove your pieces of jewellery, before endulging in your spa day!

At the end of the day, the best way to store your jewellery is in a jewellery box, with each piece seperated from one another to make sure they don't scratch themselves. Be extra carefull with pearl and opal jewellery, as these two gemstones need a little humidity and air, to stay at their best! That being said, make sure your jewellery box is not completely airtight.

What if my piece of jewellery needs a special care?

We are here to help. It is normal that with time and a little wear and tear, some pieces of jewellery might need a little bit more than just a simple cleaning. The rhodium plating that is on our white gold jewellery will wear off, as scratches are made, and both white, yellow and rose gold might also need a little re-polishing after a few years. If that's the case, don't hesitate to reach our at hello@justinequintal and we will help you out during the process.
